First of all, the difference in acoustic principles is not difficult to understand from the literal meaning. The so-called isolation of "sound insulation" means isolation, separation, blocking the sound outside and preventing it from entering; while "sound absorption" means absorption, consuming and dissolving the sound inside. For example, if the outside of the residential house is too noisy, the production workshop needs to establish a quiet environment to test the product, and a soundproof room will be made to isolate the noisy noise from the outside. If the equipment noise is too loud or the sound in the room affects others, a soundproof room will be built to absorb the sound from the source.

In the actual application process, sound insulation and sound-absorbing materials are selected according to actual needs. Common sound insulation materials include: sound insulation board, sound insulation barrier, steel plate, concrete, brick, wood board, etc.; common sound-absorbing materials include: cotton, fiberboard, slotted sound-absorbing board, plastic foam, wood material, etc. In order to achieve the ideal effect, sound insulation and sound absorption are often done together. A common case is the construction of anechoic rooms and soundproof rooms. In addition to the use of sound insulation materials for the walls, sound-absorbing spikes, microporous sound-absorbing boards, sound-absorbing cotton and other materials will also be installed indoors.
