The difference between semi-anechoic chamber and fully anechoic chamber.

Both semi-anechoic chambers and fully anechoic chambers are important experimental sites for acoustic experiments and noise testing. Their main differences lie in their structure, acoustic effects, and price.

Structural differences:
Full anechoic chamber: The floor, top and four walls of the fully anechoic chamber are equipped with acoustic wedges. Since acoustic wedges also need to be installed on the ground, the process is more complicated than a semi-anechoic chamber and requires digging the foundation and keeping the ground level. If the foundation is not dug, the indoor ground will be higher than the outdoor ground, and stairs will need to be installed.

Semi-anechoic chamber: There is no need to install acoustic wedges on the floor of the semi-anechoic chamber, and acoustic wedges are installed on the other five surfaces. The process of semi-anechoic chamber is relatively simple and does not require digging the foundation.

The floor of a semi-anechoic chamber can be flat and treated normally. A full anechoic chamber needs to install acoustic wedges on the floor, so a full anechoic chamber requires more floor space.

Differences in acoustic effects:
Fully anechoic chamber: Since acoustic wedges are installed on six sides, the precision is higher than that of a semi-anechoic chamber. The background noise value of a fully anechoic chamber is lower than that of a semi-anechoic chamber, generally below 10 decibels. When the accuracy reaches a certain level, the sound in the anechoic chamber can reach 0dB, achieving a relatively absolutely silent environment.

Semi-anechoic chamber: Only 5 sides of the semi-anechoic chamber are equipped with acoustic wedges. Compared with the fully anechoic chamber, the mute effect of the semi-anechoic chamber is slightly inferior. The background noise value of the semi-anechoic chamber is about 15-10 decibels.

Price difference:
Full anechoic chamber: Since the ground also needs anechoic treatment, labor costs are high and the production process is complex, so the price of a full anechoic chamber is higher.

Semi-anechoic chamber: The process of a semi-anechoic chamber is relatively simple and the labor cost is low, so the price of a semi-anechoic chamber of the same size is cheaper than that of a fully anechoic chamber.

There are certain differences between fully anechoic chambers and semi-anechoic chambers in terms of structure, acoustic effects and price. Fully anechoic chambers have higher accuracy and better mute effects, but are more expensive; semi-anechoic chambers have lower costs and better performance-to-price ratio. In practical applications, we cannot simply think that a full anechoic chamber is better than a semi-anechoic chamber. Instead, we must choose an appropriate anechoic chamber according to needs and budget. When meeting the requirements of the product being tested, we fully consider the cost performance and select the appropriate one. Choose the most suitable anechoic chamber.
